How many small opportunities do you routinely ignore because you’re waiting, wishing, searching and hoping for a big opportunity? That big opportunity may or may not ever arrive, yet all the while those small opportunities are there for the taking.

我读了以上的这篇文章，心想：用在所有想成为优秀译员的人的身上岂不很贴切？
所以我把它翻译出来，希望给大家以激励。
每天我们满足于自己优美的发音，满足于已经会讲的一些俚语。我们觉得自己就是一块很好的译员的材料。我们觉得自己漂亮的口语会“语惊四座”。
但我们伸出手来，却说不全我们自己手上那五个手指的英语说法；我们说不出“中国社会科学院”，“国家发改委”的英文说法，我们说不出汞、锡、铅、镍的英文说法，我们不知道用英语如何说"动脉"、“静脉”，我们想不起“轰炸机”英语叫什么，我们想不起“镜头”、“快门”、“曝光”英语怎么说，虽然我们的口语发音很漂亮，虽然我们知道一些俚语，但假如我们处处卡壳，怎么可能出去应付一个口译任务？？
然而，要想知道我上面列举的一切是很难很难的一件事情吗？当然不是！正像我上面翻译出来的那篇文章中所说：“通向成功最可靠的道路其实是非常简单的一条道路，任何有此愿望的人，都能沿着它走。”（The most reliable path to success is a simple one that anyone who chooses to do so can follow.）
我们都愿意每天花些时间去听一些我们喜欢的歌曲，但又有多少人愿意每天花些时间去阅读一些英语文章？
