我们平时说到“中小型企业”的时候都会用SMEs也表示，这个说法的全称为small- and medium-sized enterprises，最后一个s小写是因为它在这里表示enterprise（企业）的复数形式。与之很相似的一个表达可能大家也见过，就是SOEs，即state-owned enterprises（国有企业）。由此举一反三就可以知道privately-owned enterprises为“私营企业”，collectively-owned enterprises是“集体企业”，而foreign-funded enterprises则是“外资企业”。
