Universities to appoint press officers
闽高校将设立新闻发言人
福建省教育厅近日下发通知，要求各地教育局和高校设立一名新闻发言人。新闻发言人有五项工作职责，其中一项是接受记者采访。新闻发言人要通过定期或不定期召开新闻发布会，向记者通报教育改革发展的重大政策、举措、重要工作安排及其进展情况，以及社会公众关心的应公开发布的教育信息。
The Fujian Provincial Education Department has issued a notice requiring all local education bureaus and higher-learning institutions to appoint a press officer. The press officer will discharge five major duties, including press relations, holding press conferences to announce major policies and projects, promoting the progress of the projects and releasing educational information of public interest.
No more public-funded graduate students
明年起厦大取消公费研究生
明年起，厦大将取消研究生公费制度，不再按计划内与计划外录取全日制研究生，取而代之的是奖学金和助学金制度。厦大将全面提高硕士研究生的奖、助学金的金额和受益面，１００％的学生可申请并获得奖、助学金。硕士研究生的特等奖学金５．１万元，共１００名。博士研究生特等奖学金将达９万元。
Starting next year, Xiamen University will no longer admit public-funded graduate students but provide larger scholarships and financial assistance for self-funded students. All graduate students will be eligible for scholarships or financial aid. The university will offer special scholarships of RMB 51,000 each to 100 master’s students and special scholarships of up to RMB 90,000 each to doctoral students.
