二、 诗歌欣赏
1). 诗歌形式和主题
This poem is composed of two stanzas, either of which has four lines with bi-meters. Every other line of the poem rhymes with each other. The four lines in the first stanza are arranged in order, while the four lines in the second stanza are arranged in inverted order to show the echoing of the last line to the beginning line for the effects of repetition. The poet arranges the poem in this special way to make the good effects of sounds and sights for these artistic effects resulting from its visual and audio beauty. This special arrangement is made by the author to expose a special occasion in which two lovers who are sentimentally attached to each other take a reluctant leave.
2）诗句措辞内涵
Heavy is my heart/ Dark are thine eyes.
When we read these two lines, there are two questions on their minds: Why is my heart heavy? Why are your eyes dark? This suspense is deliberately made by the author to tempt us to go on reading the following lines to get the answers. The word “heavy” is often thought to mean “not light in weight”, that is, in Chinese “重，沉重”， but here it means “melancholy, low spirits, or in a gloomy or bad mood”, in Chinese “忧愁，沮丧，心情阴郁”。 The word “dark” usually means “黑暗的， 暗色的”，but here it has its connotations as “melancholy, depression”, in Chinese “忧郁的，双目黯然无光的”。 The poem uses the word “heavy” to sad or melancholy feeling of the hero or heroine in the poem, and the word “dark” to show us the depression in his or her sweetheart’s eye light. The four words “heavy” and “dark”, and “heart” and “eyes” present us a vivid picture characterized by grief and darkness.

These two lines tell us the reasons why my heart is heavy and why your eyes are dark are that the two lovers are taking a sad and reluctant leave to each other because they are attached to each other. We can understand well the Chinese saying: 多情自古伤离别，that is, it is ever known that two deeply-attached sweethearts always take a melancholy leave to each other.

在此体现了形体诗奇妙的旋律， 这种旋律把我们的思绪不知不觉地带进了一个低回沉郁、缠绵哀怨的意境之中。此时呈现在我们眼前的是一幅灰暗、凄凉、空旷的画面。这画面伴随着形体诗的变换节奏，一会儿从上而下徐徐展开，一会儿又自下而上慢慢升起。透过画面上朦胧的夜色，我们仿佛看到了一对被迫分离的恋人幽会在杨柳依依的岸边，他们单薄的衣裳早已被浓浓的露水浸湿。我们仿佛看到了一个悲伤忧郁的少女依偎着戎装待发的情郎，絮絮叮嘱他早日归来。我们的耳际似乎还萦绕着一曲贫贱夫妻迫于生计而别离的悲歌：码头上、远洋轮船的汽笛划破黎明前的沉寂，即将告别故土的丈夫最后一次亲吻泪流满面的妻子；火车站上，汽车长啸划破黎明前的夜空，他或她穿窗与自己的心上人抱手难散的动人情景。……
整首诗为我们描绘了一幅“离愁渐远渐无穷， 迢迢不断如春水”的感伤情景。

2） 译文历程
该诗题目Slowly一词极其简单，也极为常见。如何译之，并非易如反掌，正如翻译界的流行语：越是简单常用的词语，越是不容易翻译。有人翻译成《缓步》，有人翻译成《慢行》。原诗具有“出尘拔俗的含蕴”。根据张传彪的理解，这首诗的标题取Slowly，目的在于通过它将诗歌缓缓展开的旋律和诗中的缠绵哀怨的情调，用一个具体可感的文字形象表示出来。它是点亮全诗主题的“诗眼”。司空图在《诗品》中说过“不着一字，尽得风流”，而这里的Slowly则是只着一字，境界全出。不难想象，一对情深意切的恋人挥泪离别时该是怎样地难舍难分，一步一回。“缓步”，它给人的联想并不是离人悲痛欲绝的送别，而倒像是无忧无虑的情侣的湖边流连。“慢行”只是客观地点出行走的速度慢，并没有揭示出诗中人物的内心活动。纵观全诗，此字较为确切的含义似乎是“脚步啊，慢点！”。“步步慢”既能折射出这对情人越临近分手，越不忍往前走的惆怅心理；又能表现出他们越往前走，越留恋这短暂相聚的微妙感情。
