Dazu Stone-carvings
World Cultural Heritage
Dazu Stone-carvings, located in Dazu county of Chongqing with more than 40 pieces like which, are most famous for the stone-carvings from Baoding and Beishanmoya Mount (grottoes), for they are the masterpieces during Tang and Song Dynasty. Dazu Stone-carvings are like a bright pearl among the grotto art, as well as the excellent work at the late period of grotto art, together with Yungang and Longmending Stone-carvings, enjoying the same fame with Dunhuang Grottoes. Dazu Stone-carvings collect the elite of most China's grotto art and make China's grotto art reach a new peak. On Dec. 1 of 1999, Dazu Stone-carvings are ranked World Heritage List by UNESCO. Dazu Stone-carvings, by the name of “National Treasure”, well-known at home and abroad, reflect Chinese excellently traditional culture and show her absorbing and merging the culture abroad meanwhile.
